"The capacity to learn is a gift; the ability to learn is a skill; the willingness to learn is a choice." -- Brian Herbert

  • I teach students of all levels, as long as they are willing to learn. :)

About Myself:

I specialise in English (PSLE, 'N' Level and 'O' Level syllabi) and have had 3 years of tutoring and teaching experience with both normal and high ability students. I graduated from Nanyang Technological University with Honours for Bachelor of Arts in Linguistics and Multilingual Studies. Currently, I am working full-time, so I only teach tuition on my days off (Wednesdays and Saturdays).

My Belief:

I believe in progress. Every child is special, and everyone starts somewhere - the only way to go is upwards. I have high expectations as a teacher. I push my students to achieve their goals, and even beyond what they think they can achieve.

My Approach:

English can be fun! I use English as a medium to teach. English has its nitty-gritty details, but it's more important to understand that English is to be applied, not regurgitated. I aim to inspire my students by focusing on the content that I'm teaching - be it trending news or a valuable lesson to be learnt. When students acknowledge the relevance of English in their daily lives, they will have the motivation to learn better.

Guiding a motivated student makes the learning journey so much more worthwhile than pushing an unwilling learner to progress.

The First Lesson:

I usually assess my students on the first lesson to determine their language ability, then form lesson plans that cater to their learning pace and goals. For younger students, I prefer communicating frequently with parents so that all parties are kept in the loop on the child's progress.

Success Stories:

Primary Level:

  • My P6 student was scoring a borderline A for English, but her goal was to achieve A* to get into an IP school. I taught her for a year and she received an A* for PSLE English.

Secondary Level:

  • My student was already pursuing her diploma in a local polytechnic. She was retaking her 'O' Levels as she had failed most of her subjects in Secondary 4. After teaching her for 6 months, she progressed from a failing grade of D7 to her goal of attaining B3 for English.
